The leader of Egypt's Free Officer Revolution that overthrew the feudal monarchy in 1952. President of Egypt, later the United Arab Republic (UAR) from 1954 until his death in 1970. The Muslim Brothers were banned in Egypt after a Muslim Brotherhood attempt to kill Nasser in 1954.
